The founders of Karostech Ilkka Kakko and Erik Raita are well known global experts, together they have an experience span of 60 + years in diverse industries.
Ilkka has worldwide expertise in the development of innovation environments, science park management and how to harness serendipity. As a long-time advocate of Postnormal Era he has launched through his Sensemaking Institute a dedicated Vucability Improvement – framework which supports companies and ecosystems to navigate the challenges of Postnormal Era. Ilkka is also the founder of Jesterhood-community and an Ambassador of taking 21st-Century Jesters to organisations, ecosystems and communities.
Erik holds a PhD degree in Physics. He’s a seasoned innovation expert, having hands-on experience in developing and mentoring high-tech/deep-tech companies in various domains such as IT, photonics, health tech, energy storage, circular economy and robotics. During the last ten years Erik has gained vast experience with various EU funding programs and instruments.
They both have a solid academic background having published several peer-reviewed articles and Ilkka is the author of two books: Oasis Way and the Postnormal Era – How Understanding Serendipity Will Lead You to Success (2014) and Serendipity Unleashed – Hidden Wisdom of the Jesters (2025)
